NOT for freeThese are the more expensive products, but many have a great reputation, so you should at least check them out. Be mindful that price does not necessary indicate quality, so you should ALWAYS do your research before buying - search their web sites for free samples (or send me an email if you can't find them, and I will be glad to give you some directions) Pimsleur products are probably my favorites of those I have tried, and come on either cassette tapes or CD - and you can now also get the lessons on SD memory cards, and save a few dollars, plus have the convenience of 16 CDs of lessons on a single postage stamp sized card. They are also cheaper than the tapes or CDs! The Pimsleur products offer an initial, quick and simple starter pack of eight 30 minute lessons, for only about $20, then progress to 3 more comprehensive packs of 30 lessons each for about $274 each - the starter pack is what I borrowed form the library to start my Japanese language experience NOTE-you can actually buy from the Australian Pimsleur site for just under $250 (US dollars) on current exchange rates (I don't know how much the postage is though), and for about $190 US (plus postage), you can get the same pack on a small SD memory card - check it out - you might save some money, plus get the equivalent of 16 CDs on one small card. The Rosetta Stone Rocket French is a great program for learning French, and it is easily downloaded for an immediate start. The same company also has German and Spanish and is definitely worth a look. These products are cheaper than most on this page, and represent great value, especially the French at around $50, or the others at less than $100 (or almost $300 if you want them to ship you CDs and books) Transparent Language tells us that their method "..works. It's smart. And it is curiously fun..." ..and to prove it, you can learn any of 15 languages with the FREE Before You Know It Lite download! They then offer a paid version of their software which is much more comprehensive. BYKI uses a PC based (or PDA) method that utilizes flash cards - just like you might have used at school. This is a proven and effective way to learn! |
